Our Town
by Fredericksburg Theater Company (FTC)

Oct. 16 - Nov. 01, 2015
Thursdays-Sundays

A story that is unassuming yet profound. A work of unparalleled imagination and heart. A stunning theatrical achievement that captures the experience of living in the moment. These are just a few reasons why Thornton Wilder's Pulitzer Prize-winning OUR TOWN is America's most acclaimed and produced play. The humble setting of small town Grover’s Corners becomes the backdrop to a poignant portrayal of how relationships and seemingly simple moments can provide the deepest echoes throughout our lives. “One of the finest achievements of the stage” – The New York Times (Rated G) This production has been generously underwritten by Carol Ann Shepherd.

Steve Reily directs Thornton Wilder's Pulitzer Prize-winning masterpiece about life and love in small town Grover's Corners.

Winner of the 1938 Pulitzer Prize for drama and described by Edward Albee as "...the greatest American play ever written," the humble setting of Grover's Corner, New Hampshire becomes the backdrop to a poignant portrayal of how simple moments can provide the deepest echoes throughout our lives.  Written by Thornton Wilder, Our Town is highly regarded as America's most acclaimed and produced drama.

"Our Town was a ground-breaking drama when it premiered over seventy years ago," said Reily. "Of course it's familiar to many of us because typically, it's required reading in school. Several of our cast members had read or performed the play before. For myself, this is the third time I have worked on this play. Our production promises to capture the spirit of the original. Although the themes are universal, we hope to present them in a new and vibrant manner."
