Chaddick Dance Theater will present their winter concert showcase “Just Say It” for two weekends on February 12-14 and February 19-21, 2016. Incorporating theater with modern dance, the performance will feature a female-driven cast of six dancers illustrating communication through artistically choreographed dance movements and speaking roles.
Communication connects people and places through a collection of words, sounds, signs, or expressions. Sometimes communication is perceived in the way we intend it to be; sometimes it’s misperceived. Composed of stories from each dancer, “Just Say It” will showcase the connections and disconnects experienced and observed in today’s society.
“Through the simple task of walking my pups in the park or sitting alone in cafes, I have witnessed so many of us working to communicate, trying to express ourselves so wholeheartedly, and yet still seeming to miss the mark,” noted Chaddick. “Inspired by the idea that continuing to try is so much of the work of being human, I began to combine dance and theater, exploring the many ways we attempt to meet our deep need for connection."

ABOUT FIRST STREET STUDIO
First Street Studio is a 1,400-square-foot dance and performance venue located in East Austin and founded in 2014 by Cheryl Chaddick and Katherine Hodges. The studio serves as a dance training, affordable work and theater performance space for the community. The theater is equipped with 24-foot high ceilings, a suspended grid for theatrical light, a 40 x 28 marley sprung floor, and seating to accommodate audiences of 50-65 people. During the first weekend of performances, join Chaddick Dance Theater for their Opening Weekend Cocktail Party on Saturday, February 13th from 6:30pm-7:30pm, just before the night’s show.
