1944. An unassuming young staffer to FDR discovers a Top Secret proposal to bomb the concentration camps dotting Eastern Europe. Whatever the outcome of the controversial debate, the perception of morality, accountability and assimilation will profoundly alter his family and the world around him. With insight, wit and a dash of 1940s panache, JACOB’S LADDER recounts the story of a hero who’s not born but cornered as he wrestles with the idea that all evil needs to triumph is for good men to do nothing.
"The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing." - Edmund Burke

WE LOOK TO OUR PAST TO INFORM OUR FUTURE...
JACOB'S LADDER is a play about the collision of patriotism and culture. With insight, wit and a dash of 1940’s panache, we watch a hero who’s not born but cornered.
Based on the true story of a controversial plan to bomb Nazi concentration camps during the height of WWII, a young Jewish staffer in the FDR White House must choose between standing up for himself, his people, and his principles, or letting politics make him culpable in a potentially horrific plan.
