ABOUT THE AUSTIN JEWISH REPERTORY THEATER

 

Under the direction of Artistic Director Adam Roberts and Managing Director Jenny Lavery, the Austin Jewish Repertory Theater offers something for everyone: acclaimed productions by and for adults, seasons chock-full of family-friendly shows, workshops for theater fans and professional artists alike, performing arts camps, and a wide variety of specialty offerings.

 

In addition to mounting productions at our home on the beautiful Dell Jewish Community Campus in northwest Austin, AJRT is proud to partner with cultural organizations throughout the city, bringing productions and installations to dynamic spaces around Central Texas. Collaborations with lauded artists from around the country feature regularly in our award-winning work.

Adam Roberts (AJRT Artistic Director)

 

Award-winning director Adam Roberts has served as artistic director, musical director or choreographer for a wide range of companies, productions and initiatives throughout his career, with choreography credits including two European concert tours. His students have appeared in principal roles on Broadway, off-Broadway and in regional theatre, been nominated for the Tony Award, and appeared in film, national tours, and on network television. Adam's Austin-area credits include productions and/or faculty positions with the Austin Jewish Repertory Theater (Artistic Director), The Long Center for the Performing Arts (Resident Musical Director for Musical Theatre), TILT Performance Group (Co-Artistic Director), Austin Conservatory of Theatre, Austin Shakespeare, Ballet Austin Academy, Ground Floor Theatre, The Paramount Theatre, The State Theatre School of Acting, Texas Arts Project, ZACH Theatre, Zilker Theatre Productions, and other entities producing and educational. In addition to his role as musical director of Music Theatre Online and Libretto with the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts, he was for several years a contributing writer and arts critic with the Austin Chronicle. Adam currently serves St. Luke United Methodist Church as musical director and is artistic director of The Final Acts Project, a national initiative that employs the creative arts to facilitate end-of-life discussion. He holds a Master's degree in Music and College Teaching Certificate from the Florida State University and received undergraduate degrees from Kent State University and Youngstown State University's Dana School of Music. In 2015, Adam received the Shalom Austin Staff Exemplar of Excellence Award for the creation and development of the Austin Jewish Repertory Theater. His work in Austin has also been recognized with multiple B. Iden Payne awards.

 

Jenny Lavery (AJRT Managing Director)

 

An actor, director, producer, and educator, Jenny's work has been locally recognized by the Austin Critics Table, B. Iden Payne Awards, Central Texas Awards, and the Austin Chronicle. Jenny won Best Director in Central Texas for her work on Bethany with Theatre en Bloc.
