Thursday-Sunday
One of the most beloved and storied musicals of all time bounds onto the boards of the Ball Performing Arts Center in a joint adventure between McLennan Opera and Theatre. In Czarist Russia, we find Tevye, a humble milkman, and his wife, Golde, making their way as they raise five daughters in their small Jewish village of Anatevka. In 1905, not even Tevye’s hamlet is immune to the ever-encroaching modern world and the growing specter of antisemitism. While grasping onto his traditions and dreams, Tevye hopes to forge a prosperous future life for his daughters, but they, and the changing world, may have other ideas. Winner of nine Tony Awards and three Oscars, Fiddler on the Roof features an amazing score with enduring classics like “If I Were a Rich Man,” “Matchmaker, Matchmaker,” and “Sunrise, Sunset” that will lift your spirits and warm your heart.
