Rub A Duck
by Frank Wo/Men Collective

Jun. 13 - Jun. 16, 2019
Thursday-Sunday

Rub A Duck is an experimental multidisciplinary physical theatre work—a slippery, mad-paced pressure cooker social experiment in real time. Thirteen collaborators ranging in multi-talented abilities—dancers, actors, singers, design artists, and a bread maker—dynamically co-fabricate a trippy theatrical experience that ultimately mimics and mocks human subconscious.

The Frank Wo/Men, true to our name, are a mixed group in every way—the collective has included emerging and established white, black, Asian, and Chicano artist-activists, a full spectrum of LGBTQ and non-binary humans, of ages ranging from 20-50+. Our aim is to cross-pollinate artists of diverse performing arts and media to create a multi-genre, cross-discipline piece that is conscious of its time and cultural matters. We push the boundaries of art and what defines Austin’s characteristic weirdness. The performers and our audiences alike are both theatre-loving weirdos that are down to get some sweat on ‘em, and dance-loving feins that are down for some stupidity.
