A Midsummer Night's Dream
by Texas State University Department of Theatre, Dance and Film
Nov. 18 - Nov. 23, 2014
Texas State University's Department of Theatre and Dance is proudly presenting the play A Midsummer Night's Dream, November 18-23. Experience Shakespeare's most beloved comedy in our Performing Arts Center. Midsummer is a lighthearted exploration of love, fantasy and magic. Come watch the trials and tribulations of impulsive lovers, jealous inhabitants of fairy world, and the antics of an amateur acting troupe led by one of the hammiest characters ever written. Shakespeare keeps us thoroughly entertained throughout by exploring the changing perspectives of what we see and how we see each other in this wonderful, wacky and romantic comedy with music and dance.
"Each time I encounter this piece, I continue to find levels. To me, working on Shakespeare is like taking a walk on a never-ending spiral; you start where you left off last time, and discover that the production continues to reflect life's meaning in unique ways, riffing off of whatever is going on in our world at the time," says director Chuck Ney.
