This is the kind of thriller that gets you in the mood for Halloween by turning an ordinary New York apartment into a place of pure dread.

 

Frederick Knott’s classic suspense play follows Susy Hendrix, a woman who has recently lost her sight and suddenly finds herself trapped in a deadly game with con men searching for a mysterious doll. What begins as a deception becomes a battle of nerve, intelligence, and survival as Susy realizes the only way out is to outthink men who believe they control the dark.

 

The play earned Lee Remick a Tony Award nomination, then became the acclaimed film.

Its power has never really faded. Reviewing a later production, Talkin’ Broadway wrote, “If you like a thrilling story with plenty of plot turns, Wait Until Dark is a terrific choice.” 

Parental guidance advised for suspense, violence, and themes of menace and peril.
