Set four years post-Hurricane Katrina, our story crosses the Mississippi River to bridge two lovers from Westbank and Eastbank New Orleans: Romeo Tran and Katrina "Trina" Batiste. Romeo and Trina's relationship grows amidst the backdrop of New Orleans’ post-Katrina recovery and the Saints’ storied ascent to Superbowl glory.
Performed by an all-Vietnamese American and Black cast of Austin actors, ROMEO AND KATRINA is an uplifting exploration of community, life, and finding light in dark places. It is inspired by Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet and Hamlet.
