8 X 8 returns to Jump-Start with eight 8-minute performances in an 8-foot cube, featuring a diversity of styles and forms and (for the first time) all artists delving into a common theme: supernatural. 8 X 8 plays
Produced this year by company members Sheila Sisler-Currie and Kim Corbin, Cabaret du Jump is a decades-long Jump-Start tradition. Originally the cabaret was a means for Jump-Start company members to experiment with performance ideas at artistic retreats, which often led to the development of full-length productions. Ten years ago, Jump-Start decided to invite community artists and audiences to join the company for a Cabaret du Jump presented on an 8’ x 8’ stage. An open architectural cube now servesas the 8’ X 8’ X 8’ playing area.
Artists for this year’s 8 X 8 include Anthony the Poet, Karavan Dance, Daniel Jackson, Dragonfly, Stephan Gaeth, Lilla, Robin and Carlos Bernal, Los MENtirosos and more!
