The Pirates of Puerto Rico Return!
Sembrando Herencia 2020 - 18th Original Musical

Live Premiere - en Las Navidades!

Our 18th original musical honors Pirata Cofresi (~1825) -- the last pirate of the Caribbean and Robin Hood of Puerto Rico -- who stole Island riches back from the Spanish galleons and shared them with the poor.

Written by Tekina-eiru Maynard in English, Spanish, and Pirate, this production will combine live music, dance -- AND SWORD FIGHTING -- to honor Puerto Rico's Rebel-Hero! Enjoy original Bomba, Plena, Jibaro, and Taino music!

Sembrando Herencia 2020 will be made possible in part by funding and support of Humanities Texas, the state affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities, and by the MAP Fund, supported by the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation and the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. And by funding and support of LLILAS Benson Latin American Studies and Collections and Huston-Tillotson Global Studies Initiative.

We are grateful for support during this COVID time from the Federal Cares Act through National Endowment for the Arts, Humanities Texas, and the Texas Commission on the Arts; and season support from the Cultural Arts Division of the City of Austin Economic Development Department.
Keep up with the excitement!!
