Forty-four artists from across the US, México, and Middle East take the stage, studio, and film screen for the four-day Theorist Festival.
Thursday opens with film screenings including the full-length SXSW audience choice award “Mr.Gaga."
Live music and dance continue Fri/Sat at the Zilker Hillside Theater featuring Bob Livingston and Romani tabla icon Oliver Rajamani playing to Bharatanatyam rhythms of Austin dance hall of fame, Anu Naimpally.
Simultaneous site specific performances and multi-media installations by lauded tech heretic Jason Akira Somma create an immersive experience for the audience. Performers include Ballet Hartford, Matthew Shields, Ido Tadmor, Daniel Martinez, and Daniela Urías Borbón.

Theorist Fest 2018 runs Oct 18-21, celebrating the 5th Season of The Theorists and 60th anniversary of Austin’s beloved Zilker Hillside Theater. Free RSVPs and admissions; donations solicited.

Festival participants have the rare opportunity to dive into Master Classes on Sunday with world-class guest artists in Countertechnique® with Joy Davis, Contemporary Ballet Ido Tadmor (Israeli Ballet), Gaga, and a multi-media laboratory with Somma.
The Theorists think globally and act locally to amplify Homegrown Art in Austin. 2017/18 residencies toured 16 cities, 7 states & 5 countries. Founder Amy Morrow received the 2017 Austin Critics Table Award for Excellence as Dancer and DDCF’s 2016 Choreographic Exchange Award. Annual programing is in collaboration with UT, TPAC, Texas Campaign for the Environment, Fusebox, ValereRX, ACC, AISD, Body Shift, Balance Dance Studios, Austin Creative Alliance, Tango Tribe, & The General Consulate of Israel SW. This project is supported in part by the Cultural Arts Division of the City of Austin Economic Development Department.
