Por Los Mojados/For the Wetbacks, Proyecto Teatro at Emma S. Barrientos Mexican-American Cultural Center, March 5-8, 2015
La compañía juvenil de ProyectoTeatro debutará con ésta magnifica obra llamada "Por los mojados" la cual aborda un tema muy delicado que afecta a toda la comunidad hispana.
En el verano del 2014 el mundo entero vio como más de 50,000 niños desamparados huyeron de sus países centroamericanos y cruzaron indocumentados a los Estados Unidos en busca de refugio a sus vidas.
Lanzados a los medios sin descaros, éstos niños fueron protagonistas de protestas que los etiquetaron como criminales y hasta la fecha, son rechazados por la sociedad ciega a las causas de su migración.
"Por Los Mojados" no es solamente la historia de estos niños, si no la historia de los antecedentes políticos y sociales que han creado la crisis migratoria más grande del hemisferio occidental. Con más de 5 meses de investigación por parte del elenco juvenil, esta puesta en escena combina la comedia y el drama, al igual que el teatro y la danza contemporánea.
"Por Los Mojados" fue escrita por el elenco de la compañía juvenil de ProyectoTeatro, dirigida por Luis Armando Ordaz Gutiérrez, y cuenta con la coreografía de Juan Pablo Flores (NYC).

The Youth Company of Proyecto Teatro offers its first production with this magnificent work entitled ‘For the Wetbacks,’ which treats an extremely sensitive topic affecting the entire Latino community.
In the summer of 2014, the entire world witnessed how more than 50,000 unaccompanied and undocumented minors poured into the borders of the United States in search of refuge from their improvised and violence-ridden lives back in Central America.
These children were thrown into a media frenzy that labeled them as criminals and to this day, are still rejected by a society ignorant of the motives behind their migration.
"Por Los Mojados" (For the Wetbacks) is not only the story of these children, but also an indepth exploration in to the political and social events responsible for what is known as the largest immigration crisis of the western hemisphere. With over 5 months of extensive investigation by the cast, this performance blends drama and comedy through theatre and contemporary dance.
"Por Los Mojados" was written by the cast of ProyectoTeatro's youth company, directed by Luis Armando Ordaz Gutiérrez, and premieres guest choreography from Juan Pablo Flores (NYC).
