announce a weekend of Master Classes with Karen Kohlhaas!

Austin Shakespeare and The Actor’s School are teaming up to sponsor two master classes with Karen Kohlhaas, the founding member and senior teacher of New York's Atlantic Theater Company. The classes will be taught at Austin Playhouse ,located at the south entrance of ACC’s Highland Campus. Master Class 1 is on Saturday, November 19th from 2pm – 6pm and Master Class 2 on Sunday, November 20th from 11am – 3pm.
Master Class 1: Tennessee Williams scenes featuring Practical Aesthetics.
10 actors will be cast in scenes from Williams plays, and learn Practical Aesthetics script analysis techniques by working on the scenes in class. Karen will speak on Williams' life and works, and show clips from her documentary-in-progress, Tennessee Williams in the Mississippi Delta: The Love of Things Irreconcilable.
Master Class 2: Fearless Cold Reading
Based on her popular audition classes in New York City, this high-energy workshop is packed with information and audition skills. Karen will show how to apply practical aesthetics on-the-fly so its principles can focus your choices for audition material, no matter how much or little time you have to prepare.

ABOUT KAREN KOHLHAAS
Karen Kohlhaas is a director, teacher, author and filmmaker. She is a founding member of New York's Atlantic Theater Company, an acclaimed Off-Broadway company for over 30 years, and has directed at Atlantic and other Off-Broadway theaters, as well as regionally and internationally. Karen is a senior teacher at the Atlantic Acting school, teaches her own NYC classes in advanced acting, directing, monologues and audition technique (www.art-and-audition.com), and has guest-taught around the US and in Australia and the UK. She is the author of The Monologue Audition: A Practical Guide for Actors, How to Choose a Monologue for Any Audition, and a teacher's manual and DVD about her unique approach to rehearsing audition monologues.
