In Memoriam: Sam Damon, Playhouse Smithville
From Playhouse Smithville:
We are saddened by the passing of our friend and collaborator Sam Z. Damon. From his fiery dramatic performance as Juror Number 3 in “12 Angry Men” to his comedic chops delighting us in “Noises Off!” and “A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum” and so many more, as well as writing & directing the provocative & powerful original play “The Tubes”. We will carry his memory along with us as the shows go on, and we give our love & support to his Jamie McCormick Damon and all Sam’s loved ones.
Samuel Zane Damon
April 7, 1954 – July 29, 2023
In his 69 years, Sam, the son of Ronald and Mary, has been an accomplished actor, writer, lawyer, and mentor to many. A graduate from Baylor Law School, Sam practiced in the state of Texas, as well as many years in New Mexico, ultimately returning to the Bastrop area so that he and his wife Jamie could live closer to their grandchildren. Sam was a loyal and gentle friend, husband, father and grandfather. A calm and a compass in many storms.
Survived by his wife Jamie, children Miyoshi (Julie), Nick, Max, Frankie (Jeffery), and 2 grandchildren Ella & Easton, and a brother, Larry (Mary).
Sam possessed a charming and witty sense of humor, and an unforgettable, charismatic, and unique personality.
