Austin Shakespeare is seeking two experienced singers one Baritone and one Bass in Austin who are excellent singers for NEW Opera Workshop performance of a the VERDICT OF LOVE on Sept. 11-12 Fri & Sat at 7:30 and Sat at 2 pm at Austin Opera's brand-new Butler Performance Space. We anticipate four rehearsals in the week before.

 

There is a pay stipend.

The performance will be sung thru scenes for 40 min with music to be sight read with familiarity (not memorized)...and then for 40 min of singers speaking text over recorded music.

 

Roles are characters in their 20's but age is a matter of appearance. The story is set in late 19th century Italy of four young artists in Italy pursued by a mysterious figure. They are involved in a sudden murder but driven in the end to a profound spiritual awakening.

 

Our music director/pianist will be Vakhtang Zaalishvili, libretto by director Ann Ciccolella, music composed by Jeff Britting.
