The heat is on in this sizzling new comedy! A brilliant but temperamental chef creates a dish so good it puts his struggling restaurant on the map, but success comes with a side of chaos. As business booms, egos clash and loyalties are tested in this fiery battle between passion and profit. Perfect for fans of The Bear, Seared is filled with sharp dialogue, mouthwatering stakes, and a feast for the senses. Audiences will be up close to the action as Austin Playhouse is transformed into the intimate kitchen of a New York City restaurant.
Austin Playhouse is seeking local actors for the upcoming production of Seared by Theresa Rebeck.
Rehearsals will begin the week of May 11, 2026. Performances are June 5 - 28 at Austin Playhouse West Campus. The play is directed by Lara Toner Haddock.

Rodney: Male, 20s, Black
Emily: Female, 20s, any ethnicity
Invited auditions will take place at Austin Playhouse on Tuesday, February 24 and Wednesday, February 25. To request an audition slot, please fill out the Audition Request form by Thursday, February 19.
Non-Equity and Equity members will be considered.
This production is being produced under a SPT Tier 1 Equity agreement ($323/week salary for Equity actors.) All roles are paid.
All Equity members will be seen. Local hires only.
