Cecily Cardew (20s) - must be proficient at Standard British RP dialect

About the play: Wilde’s “trivial comedy for serious people” opens Austin Playhouse’s 26th season. Jack Worthing and Algernon Moncrieff are two dapper Edwardian gents who shamelessly invent people in order to shirk their responsibilities and follow their whims. For country-dwelling Jack, his fictitious brother Ernest creates a perfect excuse to visit London and swoon over Gwendolen, Algernon’s cousin and daughter of the formidable Lady Bracknell. For city-dwelling Algernon, his imaginary (and sickly) friend Bunbury frequently calls him away to the country, where he meets and falls for Jack’s ward Cecily. This masterful comedy showcases Wilde’s razor-sharp wit as it skewers social conventions and turns Victorian etiquette into pure comedic chaos.
Actors of all races, ethnicities, gender identities, and sexual orientations are encouraged to submit.

THE HEART SELLERS ROLES TO BE CAST:
Luna/Luningning Ignacia Mangahas de la Rosario Bustos (23) - Filipina, to be performed by an actor of Asian or Pacific Island descent, must have specific understanding and lived or inherited experience with the Filipino dialect
About the play: The Heart Sellers follows two young immigrant women, Luna and Jane, who arrive in the United States in the early 1970s as part of the Hart-Celler Immigration Act wave. Both women are the wives of professionals who came for the "American Dream," but they find themselves isolated, without work or community, as their husbands work long hours. Over a shared Thanksgiving dinner, Luna and Jane form an unexpected bond, navigating their cultural displacement, language barriers, and personal dreams. The play is a heartfelt and often humorous exploration of friendship, identity, and the unseen emotional lives of immigrant women in a transformative era of American history.
