Auditions for A Christmas Play "$1.87" – An Adaptation of *The Gift of the Magi
 
The Lee County Center for the Arts is excited to announce open auditions for our upcoming Christmas production $1.87.
Audition Details:
- 🗓Date: Saturday, October 5th and Sunday, October 6th, 2024
- 🕑Time: 2 pm - 4 pm both days
- 📍Location: Lee County Center for the Arts, 115 W Austin St, Giddings
We are seeking talented actors of all ages to bring this touching story to life. No prior experience is necessary—just a passion for storytelling and holiday spirit!
Available Roles:
- Father/Mr. Morton (40s-60s)
A kind and generous parent who dotes on his children and doubles as a no-nonsense storekeeper eager to close up shop for Christmas. He balances his warmth with practicality.
- Mother/Madame Sofronie (40s-60s)
A loving and indulgent mother to her children. As Madame Sofronie, she transforms into a sharp, business-minded wig maker who is primarily concerned with profits.
- Uncle Will (50s-70s)
The older brother of the Father, a charismatic storyteller and entertainer. Uncle Will is a favorite with the children due to his lively nature and playful antics.
- Henry and Olivia (8-14 years old)
Brother and sister who are playful and teasing each other. They love wordplay and are boisterous, yet their closeness shows through in the tender moments. We are seeking young actors with good chemistry and energy.
- Della (20s-30s)
A young woman deeply in love with her husband Jim. Though they are struggling financially, Della is selfless and passionate, determined to make him happy no matter the cost.
- Jim (20s-30s)
Della's hardworking husband wants nothing more than to improve their situation and see Della happy. He is thoughtful, caring, and equally devoted to his wife.
What to Prepare:
- You will need to fill out audition forms and conflict sheets
- Cold readings, scripts will be provided.
