Start spreading the news, TexARTS is announcing its ‘24-’25 Professional Series. The season will debut with Elf, the musical (performing November 22 - December 15), this Christmas classic is sure to make everyone embrace their inner elf. Next up is Tick, Tick ... BOOM! (performing February 14 - March 2) this autobiographical musical is the story of a composer and the sacrifices he made to achieve his big break in theatre. And closing out the season will be Bye Bye Birdie (performing July 11 - August 10) a classic 1950s rock & roll musical.

 

TexARTS 24-25 Professional Season Auditions

 

TexARTS will be auditioning the first half of its ‘24-’25 Season on September 21,2024 from 10 AM - 4 PM at TexARTS' new facility. Walk-ins and Video submissions are welcome. Callbacks for each show will be announced separately. In addition to the leading roles, we are looking for both adult and youth actors for ELF, the Musical for multiple ensemble roles.

Please prepare a 16-32 bar song in the style of the show and a one-minute comedic/dramatic monologue. For dancers, the dance call will be from 1PM - 2PM. Please bring 4 - hard copies of headshots and resumes to auditions. Adults audition slots are from 10 am - 1 PM; youth auditions slots are from 2 PM - 4 PM. You will find the audition sign-up HERE.   • ●  Dress Rehearsals: Tuesday-Wednesday, November 19-21

  • ●  Opening Night: Friday, November 22

  • ●  Performances are Thursdays-Saturdays at 7:30 pm, Sundays at 2:00 pm (Thanksgiving Day is OFF)

    Compensation

    Up to $1000 total for non-union professional actors for all rehearsals and performances (not including the possible extension). Stipends available for current BFA/BA/AA students. Out-of-town actors will be considered, but no housing or transportation can be provided.

    Elf, the Musical Character Breakdowns

    Buddy

    Born a human but raised at the North Pole as a Christmas Elf, Buddy is eager to find his place in the world. He is a child at heart and that child-like curiosity makes him both endearing and gets him into trouble.

    Jovie

    Buddy's girlfriend. She works at Macy's and has a bit of a cynical outlook on life and love because of the men she's dated. She is caught off guard by Buddy's genuinely big heart.

Walter

Buddy's workaholic father. He is a Children's book writer, but lacks any of the childlike spirit that Buddy has. He is selfish, tense, and generally angry with life.

Emily

Walter's wife. Though she is sweet and willing to take him in, she thinks Buddy is crazy at first. Wishes her husband would spend more time with the family.

Buddy's stepbrother who is excited to have a new friend and brother. Unlike his mother, he doesn't take much convincing to have Christmas spirit, but like his mother, he wishes his father would spend more time with the family.

Deb

Walter's secretary. Takes an instant liking to Buddy simply for the novelty of it. Though she aims to please and is a bit of a suck-up, she feels under appreciated.

Manager
A heavy-set manager at Macy's. He is a good, friendly guy just trying to do his job and get by. Gender: male

Walter's boss. He is what Walter will become if he continues down the path he is on. A tyrannical, workaholic who cares nothing about the people around him or who work for him.

Just another workingman. Loves his job and Christmas, but also likes to kick back and watch the game when a rare opportunity arises. A natural storyteller.
