A co-production between the Archive Theater and Austin Scottish Rite Theatre, this fantastic production will return audiences to the world they loved in our 2019 Cyrano de Bergerac. In Alexandre Dumas’ classic coming of age story The Three Musketeers, D’Artagnan sets out for Paris to make his fortune accompanied only by his hopes and dreams, old yellow horse, and an empty purse. Along the way he meets the best of friends, the fiercest of enemies, and the most dangerous of women, as well as a love that will change his life forever. Jennifer Rose Davis’ new translation of The Three Musketeers is brought to life in a splendid, swashbuckling, period spectacle with live music.
The Three Musketeers will be performed in Austin Scottish Rite Theatre.
Auditions for The Three Musketeers will be May 10-12, 2024 at Berkley United Methodist Church (Friday) and Austin Scottish Rite Theater (Sat and Sun).
The auditions will be our slightly unusual format where you get to play against another actor (more like a call back than a first audition). You are welcome to sign up with a friend. Audition slots will be 15 minutes. We work only with local Austin talent. All cast and crew positions will be paid.
The show will be rehearsing in July and August, 2024 and running in August/September. We'll be looking for 10-12 actors and 2 swing actors. Most roles will include stage combat.

- Host – Your basic genial Innkeeper who carefully caters to aristocrats and tries to keep on their good side. Monsieur Bonaciuex – elderly, cowardly, comical, covetous, and jealous, M. Bonaciuex is no match for his young wife politically, mentally, or emotionally. He is merely an old man troubled with wind and little conscience. (This role has no stage fighting)
We are open to inclusive casting for the all roles in the play and highly encourage actors of all races, ethnicities, genders, and non binary/gender nonconforming to apply for the roles they love. We are attempting to write our character descriptions in a non-restrictive way, but please pardon the Monsieur and Madame titles that are written in the original play. These will be changed in the final production to match the actors cast in the roles.
The show will be historically and elaborately costumed and staged to the mid 17th-century to match the setting of Alexandre Dumas' play.
