Auditions for a role in In A Margaret Atwood Minute, or The Book Bitch with Overtime Theater on Apr 13 through Apr 14.A𝗨𝗗𝗜𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 𝗡𝗢𝗧𝗜𝗖𝗘 — The Overtime Theater will hold auditions for the premiere of In a Margaret Atwood Minute, or The Book Bitch, a new play by Anne Valentino.
Auditions will be held Saturday April 13th, 2024 from 3 PM to 6 PM and Sunday April 14th from 4 PM to 7 PM.
Actors will be expected to cold read sides from the script. A prepared monologue is not mandatory.
This show will run Fridays and Saturdays at 8 PM from June 7th to June 29th , 2024 with one Thursday 8 PM show on June 13th and one Sunday 3 PM show on June 23rd. All roles and crew are volunteer positions. Our Love Bucket of patron donations will be split equally at the end of the run.
We will cast performers for the following roles with some performers playing multiple roles:
LUCE – 35+. (F) Former professor and current representative of Books for a Better Life lobby. Extremely passionate feminist.
ZOE – 35+. (F) LUCE’s one-time colleague, now sidekick. A tad more diplomatic.
BARB – 40s. (F) LUCE’s partner.
TALLYGIRL – 20s. (Trans Woman) The administrative gatekeeper and maintainer of the tally marks.
STEVE, CHANCELLOR OF BOOKS – 40+. (M) Hard-nosed overseer of the book program
.FRIDA KAHLO – Ghost of. (F)
ANNE SEXTON – Ghost of. (F) Dressed in fringed vest, striped bell bottoms, headband, platform shoes, and is wearing sunglasses—a la “Joanie Bravo.”
DAGGER – 20s. (M) An officer of whatever dystopic regime has taken over the country.
STUDENT – 20s. (M).
BARTENDER – 20s. (F)
MARCUS – 30s-40s. (M)
ZOE’s husband.Male
(Offstage): various voices (Congress, Ominous announcements, TV announcer, etc.)
