Nov. 26 (2019)
Auditions for upcoming season, including Hedda Gabler and A Midsummer Night's Dream.
Austin Shakespeare welcomes professional actors (Equity/Non-Equity) for open auditions 7 pm pm Tues. Nov. 26 by appointment only: firstname.lastname@example.org
These auditions are primarily for actors who have not auditioned this season, focusing on Ibsen’s "Hedda" to be performed at the Long Center’s Rollins theater Feb. 2020 as well as our May 2020 of "A Midsummer Night’s Dream" in Zilker Park.
New auditioners should prepare a 1-minute piece of heightened language; pieces from this season’s plays are welcome. Audition speeches should be memorized or read with familiarity.
Actors of all ethnicities are welcome. On occasion, Austin Shakespeare uses cross-gender casting. Also, age range noted in character descriptions is a matter of appearance.
Auditioners should familiarize themselves with the plays they are auditioning for. Hedda dates: performances Feb. 21-March 8. Rehearsals start Jan 21 evenings and weekends. Precast "Judge Brack" guest artist: Raymond Schultz.
