Lorca: Canto Jundo

Austin Shakespeare, a professional theater company, will hold auditions for their Shakespeare in Zilker Park, The Merchant of Venice and for a new theater piece about Spanish poet Garcia Lorca titled “Canto Jundo,” featuring English and Spanish language. Actors of all ethnicities are welcome.

First-time auditioners should prepare a 1 to 2-minute piece of heightened language; including pieces from this season’s plays. Audition speeches should be memorized or read with familiarity. On occasion, Austin Shakespeare uses cross-gender casting. Also, age range noted in character descriptions is a matter of appearance. Auditioners should familiarize themselves with the plays they are auditioning for. Actors audtioning for Lorca should auditon in Spanish language (selections upon request).
Merchant first rehearsal to final performance April 9-May 26, 2019.
Rehearsals are Tues-Fri 7-10 pm; Sat 1-5 pm; Sun 5-9 pm
Performances are Thurs-Sunday 8 pm for Merchant (note outdoors)
Merchant performances: May 8 - 26, 2019, at Sheffield Zilker Hillside Theatre.
Lorca performances Fri & Sat March 29 & 30 at Esquina Tango; Lorca rehearsals Mon-Thurs March 25-28
Already cast Mary Alice Carnes & Liz Vera in Lorca, and Marc Pouhe as Shylock in Merchant.
