Lucky Stiff

Lucky Stiff is a musical farce. It was the first collaboration for the team of Lynn Ahrens (book and lyrics) and Stephen Flaherty (music). The show is based on the 1983 novel The Man Who Broke the Bank at Monte Carlo by Michael Butterworth.
Austin Playhouse is holding auditions for LUCKY STIFF on Saturday, March 10. The offbeat and hilarious murder mystery musical is written by Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty, and will be directed by Michael McKelvey. Rehearsals start May 1, and the production runs May 25 - June 24. Actors will be compensated. All available roles are open to actors of any ethnicity. AEA and non-Equity accepted. WHAT TO PREPARE: 16-32 bars of a musical theatre song in the style of the show. Your music must be double-sided in a 3-ring binder. An accompanist will be provided.
ROLES AVAILABLE:
- Annabel Glick (Female, 25 - 35): A no-nonsense representative for the Universal Dog Home of Brooklyn. A proactive citizen with an aggressive personality who becomes the unexpected love interest of Harry Witherspoon. Vocal range: F#3 to E5.
- Rita La Porta (Female, 35 - 45): Vinnie's high-strung sister with poor eyesight. Impulsive, erratic, and very insecure. Vocal range: F#3 to D5.
- Vinnie Diruzzio (Male, 35 - 40): Rita's mild-mannered brother who is dragged into her mess. He is an optometrist with predictably conservative tendencies. Vocal range: F#4 to A#2.
- Luigi Gaudi (Male, 40 - 50): A mysterious, boisterous Italian who wears a beard and an eye patch. Vocal range top: B2 to F#4.
- The Body of Tony Hendon (Male, 40 - 50): The body of a man believed to be "Uncle Anthony," who Harry brings with him on a very special trip. Doubles as Commuter on Train.
- Ensemble: 2 men and 2 women.
