Chitty Chitty Bang Bang

Based on the classic 1968 movie of the same name, an inventor sets about restoring an old race car from a scrap heap with the help of his children. They soon discover the car has magical properties including the ability to float and take flight. Trouble occurs when the evil Baron Bomburst desires the magic car for himself. The family joins forces with Truly Scrumptious and batty Grandpa Potts to outwit the dastardly Baron and Baroness and their villainous henchman, the Child Catcher.

Audition Information
Dance audition will begin promptly at 7pm, singing auditions will follow. Actors should prepare 16-32 bars from a song appropriate to the style of one of the shows. Please bring sheet music; an accompanist will be provided. No tracked music or acappella singing will be allowed. Individuals of all ethnic and cultural backgrounds are encouraged to audition for all roles. No need to sign up for an audition time, just show up a little before 7pm. Please bring a head shot and resume. Auditions are only for ages 16 and up. Children for Chitty Chitty Bang Bang will be chosen from our Woodlawn Academy of the Performing Arts program at a later date.

Character Breakdowns
- Caractacus Potts -An eccentric, brilliant, English inventor and loving father and son. His inventions and children are his life.
- Age: 35 to 50
- Vocal range top: G5, Vocal range bottom: A3
- Truly Scrumptious - Daughter of the famous candy maker, Lord Scrumptious. Strong and independent, but gentle. Falls in love with Caractacus.
- Age: 20 to 30
- Vocal range top: E5 ,Vocal range bottom: A3
- Grandpa Potts - Caractacus Potts's father, who is a former war hero. He loves to tell old War stories. A sort of second father to Jeremy and Jemima.
- Age: 65 to 75
- Vocal range top: E5, Vocal range bottom: C4
- Baron Bomburst - Tyrannical ruler of Vulgaria and a lover of toys. A man-child, he is very immature, needy, and whiney.
- Age: 35 to 45
- Vocal range top: E5, Vocal range bottom: E4
- Baroness Bomburst - Head of the Vulgarian Parliament and a hater of children. Tyrannical and dramatic.
- Age: 30 to 45
- Vocal range top: G5, Vocal range bottom: G3
- The Childcatcher - He makes sure that Vulgaria is child-free. Evil and manipulative. Hates children almost as much as the Baroness.
- Age: 45 to 60
- The Toymaker- With all children outlawed in Vulgaria, this toy-making genius only works for the child-like Baron. Smart but frightened.
- Age: 45 to 60

- Boris - A member of the two-person Vulgarian gang that works for the Baron and Baroness. Though he is not very smart, he is the leader.

- Goran - One member of the two-person Vulgarian gang that works for the baron and Baroness. A dumb oaf.

- Lord Scrumptious- Owner of the Scrumptious Sweet Factory. Extremely busy, important, and decisive.
