Fridays-Sundays

The TONY Award-nominated hilarious, roller skating, musical adventure called XANADU opens live at Georgetown’s Historic Palace Theatre on Friday, January 15, for a 5-weekend run!  Closing on Sunday, February 14, makes XANADU a wonderful Valentine gift!  The Palace Artistic Director, Mary Ellen Butler, directs this production about following your dreams despite the limitations others set for you.   XANADU rolls along to the original hit score composed by pop-rock legends Jeff Lynne and John Farrar.  Based on the Universal Pictures' cult classic movie, which starred Olivia Newton-John and Gene Kelly, XANADU is hilarity on wheels for adults, children, and anyone who has ever wanted to feel inspired.  Book by Douglas Carter Beane; Music and Lyrics by Jeff Lynne and John Farrar.  Based on the Universal Pictures film with a screenplay by Richard Danus & Marc Rubel.  (Palace production Rated PG with Mature Humor)

Did someone say ROLLERSKATING??  On stage at the Palace?  Yes, indeed!  The very talented Palace protégé and star in her own right, Sara Burke, not only plays the lead role of Kira but also serves as Choreographer for this ambitious Palace production.  Sara is on skates for most of the show – when she isn’t flying, that is!  Megan Provost is Music Director for her first Palace production.  She joined the Palace in 2015 as a substitute keyboard player and rehearsal pianist for Anything Goes, but since then she has played for four additional shows in the Palace’s 2014-15 Season.  Rachel Atkinson (Lighting Designer) and Natalia Luna (Props Coordinator) also work their magic for this wonderful show.  In addition to Sara Burke, the cast is filled with noted actors, singers, and dancers:  Kyle Kirchoff, Scott Shipman, Matthew Burnet, Jennifer Butler, Sheree Bristol, Gazelle Garcia, Leslie R. Hethcox, Kelsey Kimble, and Lexi Phillips.  Don’t miss this debut performance of XANADU at Georgetown’s Historic Palace Theatre!

We are grateful to Blonde Faith Hair Salon on West Parmer Lane in Austin for their sponsorship of XANADU.  Thanks also to our non-profit partner The Brookwood Community in Georgetown.
