Thursdays-Sundays

La Pastorela is a traditional holiday play that has been performed in the Americas for centuries and has been passed down from generation to generation. La Pastorela shares wisdom through drama and humor, as shepherds embark on a journey, encountering manifestations of evil that attempt to keep them from reaching their destination. This Teatro Vivo production retains elements of the original tradition, with a contemporary twist to the dialogue and music. This celebration is a cultural event for the entire family.

Teatro Vivo is excited to present Nuestra Pastorela, a play that offers a unique twist on a favorite holiday tradition. This story promises to be a fun evening at the theatre for the entire family.

Written by Jeffry Farrell and David Lozano, and directed by Ricky Ramon, Nuestra Pastorela is a fun and wacky adaptation of the traditional shepherd’s tale. Accompanied by the musical stylings of Clemencia Zapata and performed in a playful mix of English, Spanish, and gibberish, Nuestra Pastorela follows the lively shepherds on their way to Bethlehem. Along the way, a group of bumbling devils try to interrupt their journey and plot the shepherds’ ultimate doom, bringing the ultimate showdown between good and evil front stage in a chaotic and hilarious compilation.

“People will walk away with a better understanding of the story we’ve all grown to love,” says Ramon. “They will leave the theatre feeling energized, happy, and ready to celebrate the holidays.”Directed by Ricky Ramón.
