Hill Country Christmas on the Air
by Hill Country Community Theatre (HCCT)
Dec. 17 - Dec. 18, 2016
Saturday-Sunday
Back by popular demand, this holiday season the Hill Country Community Theatre will also be holding a very special event. “Hill Country Christmas on the Air” is a modern, old-fashioned radio variety show and sing-a-long.
“One of our goals here at the Hill Country Community Theatre is to provide even more entertainment for the community to enjoy,” said Mike Rademaekers the theatre’s executive director. “‘Hill Country Christmas on the Air’ will appeal to the whole family with lots of familiar songs where you can sing along. This show is going to be a lot of fun. You won’t want to miss it.”
“We’re excited to announce that this show is another one of our Pay-What-You-Can events. In the last year we have produced many Pay-What-You-Canevents allowing us to offer greater accessibility to the live performing arts to our community”, said Rademaekers.
Kay Baker and Patrick Lescarbeau will host the event which will be presented for two performances only, on Saturday, December 17 at 7:30 PM and Sunday, December 18 at 2:15 PM.
A different time is evoked in this theatrical presentation of a live radio broadcast - a variety show from the 1940’s. Along with classic comedy routines, the spirit of Christmas in that bygone era will be evoked with songs like "Oh, Holy Night", “What Child is This?” and "Baby, It’s Cold Outside." The audience will be encouraged to sing along with this delightful holiday special.
Bigger and better, this holiday extra is back by popular demand. Last year, this program was the first of many HCCT “Pay-What-You-Can” events which allow the theatre to offer the community greater accessibility to the live performing arts.
The cast combines members of the Hill Country Community Theatre Players, as well as members from the Bluebonnet Chorale, including Jake Adams, Jennifer Brust, Carol Epstein, Jared Fields, Donnace Harrod-Knox, Randy Hilmer, Kyle Hirning, Gerry Kirby, Linda Mayo, Sharon Penny, Melissa Rowe, Ryan Schnitzler, Seth Smith and Sally Stemac.
The songs will include: “Blue Christmas”, “I’ll Be Home for Christmas”, “The Christmas Song”, “What Are You Doing New Year’s Eve?”, “Mele Kalilimaka”, “Happy Holidays”, “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas”, “Sleigh Ride”, “Let it Snow”, “Silver Bells”, “Winter Wonderland”, “Silent Night”, “Santa Claus is Coming to Town”, “Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer”, “Here Comes Santa Claus” and “We Wish You a Merry Christmas”.
