Asking for Change
by Jump-Start Performance Company
Jun. 30 - Jul. 09, 2016
Fridays-Saturdays
ASKING FOR CHANGE is a glimpse into the unspoken cycle of our society's attitudes toward our “invisible” neighbors, the homeless. Six characters are highlighted, each one representing a part of the demographic of our homeless population. Community members active in homelessness issues will be present opening night for a post-show exchange with audience and artists.
ASKING FOR CHANGE is theatre that is primarily movement-based. The form of the piece is a rehearsed series of scores, each with a goal and rules to move by. The performers are then free to improvise, exposing fresh beauty in their physical and emotional reactions with each performance.
Cast/Crew:
Director - Stephan Gaeth
Stage Manager - Tara Moorman
Performers - Sophie Bolles, Sam Mandelbaum, Christina Hawkins,
Katherine Roberts and Kristina Watkins
Creator and Director Stephan Gaeth is Jump-Start’s first INKUBATOR artist. ASKING FOR CHANGE is a development of a piece he performed at the company’s 2014 8 X 8 series. With INKUBATOR, Jump-Start invites a community artist to present an original work, offering support with a space, technical assistance, funds and a critical response process to assist in development of the new work.
Seating is limited. Community members active in homelessness issues will be present opening night for a post-show exchange with audience and artists.
