Treasure Island (Lavery)
by Texas State University Department of Theatre, Dance and Film
Feb. 10 - Feb. 15
Tuesday-Sunday
On a stormy night at the edge of the world, young Jim Hawkins lives with her sharp-tongued grandmother at the Admiral Benbow Inn. Their quiet life is upended by the arrival of Bill Bones, a haunted pirate with a mysterious sea chest. When Bones dies and leaves behind a cryptic map, Jim is swept into an epic sea voyage aboard the Hispaniola, accompanied by the blustering Squire Trelawney and the practical Doctor Livesey. But danger lurks below deck in the form of Long John Silver, a one-legged cook with secrets of his own. As Jim navigates mutiny, shifting loyalties, and a mysterious island haunted by ghostly memories, she must decide who to trust, and what treasure truly means. Filled with music, dance, puppetry, magic and theatrical invention, Bryony Lavery’s adaptation brings Robert Louis Stevenson’s classic tale to life in a bold and highly imaginative way.
