Romeo and Juliet
by San Pedro Playhouse

Mar. 25 - Mar. 30
Tuesday-Wednesday, Friday-Sunday

This spring, San Pedro Playhouse and Classic Theatre proudly present a bold reimagining of Shakespeare’s Romeo + Juliet with the return of fan-favorite Shakespeare in the Park. This production, directed by Tony Ciaravino, blends the Bard’s timeless tragedy with the striking aesthetics of 90s high fashion. Rachael Lorenzetti will design this fresh, stylish, edge-to-the-star-crossed lovers’ tale costume design. Following the overwhelming demand from last year’s festival, Shakespeare in the Park returns to San Pedro Springs Park, welcoming past and patrons the chance to experience this iconic love story in a stunning outdoor setting. The production features a visionary set designed by architecture firm Overland Partners, enhancing the spectacle with innovative and immersive staging. The production plays for one week only, from March 25 through March 30, 2025, at San Pedro Springs Park.

Director Tony Ciaravino adds:Romeo + Juliet is the most enduring and romantic play in Western literature. In the play, Shakespeare has crafted some of the most iconic characters of all time. Our production, set in Verona in the mid-1990s during the height of Italian fashion, puts a contemporary spin on this timeless classic, highlighting the feud between the Capulets and Montagues and the conflict between children and their parents. Anyone who has felt the pangs of love will surely fall for our Romeo and Juliet.”
