The Belle of Amherst
by Extended Run Players
Aug. 17 - Aug. 18
Friday-Saturday
Emily Dickinson lived her whole life in her father’s house in Amherst, Massachusetts, and was regarded by her contemporaries as an eccentric recluse. When she died in 1886 at the age of 55, her sister, Lavinia, discovered a cache of over 1,800 unpublished poems which revealed a voice of startling originality and peculiar beauty. In this production six actresses together present the complex persona of this fascinating woman, providing glimpses of her penetrating sensibilities and unconventional thinking through her memories and her poetry.
