1776, the musical

Fridays-Sundays
It's the summer of 1776, and the nation is ready to declare independence... if only our founding fathers can agree to do it! We’ll follow John Adams of Massachusetts, Benjamin Franklin of Pennsylvania and Thomas Jefferson of Virginia as they attempt to convince the members of the Second Continental Congress to vote for independence from the shackles of the British monarchy. 1776 is a funny, insightful, and compelling look at the events that changed the world. With casting open TO ALL, regardless of race or gender, we can’t wait to see who gets to raise their voices to say Sit Down, John.
Last performed by TTC in 2001, 1776 returns! Witness the birth of our nation as our forefathers struggle to craft the Declaration of Independence. This unconventional Broadway hit puts a human face on the pages of history and lets us see the people behind our national icons. A recent revival took this concept a step further, with a glorious multiracial cast of female, transgender, and noninary actors. That production blew open the door of possibilities, and TTC is ready to take that step.
