Tea: A Mirror of Soul
by Butler School of Music

Feb. 22 - Feb. 25
Thursday, Saturday-Sunday

Composer Tan Dun and librettist Xu Ying bring the ancient story of Seikyo, a prince-turned-monk, to the 21st century. Experience Puccini-inspired lyricism paired with the natural soundscape of water, paper, and stones, as viewers follow Seikyo and the beautiful Princess Lan in search of an ancient book of wisdom. Only the transcendence found through the sacred act of the tea ritual can save Seikyo from the “bitter love” birthed from tragedy.
