New Works - TEEN DAD and PA' FUERA
by Texas State University

Nov. 09 - Nov. 14, 2021
Tuesday-Sunday

Texas State’s Department of Theatre and Dance presents New Works Festival Nov. 9-14 in the Patti Strickel Harrison Foundation (PSHF) Studio Theatre.

The New Works Festival features two plays: Teen Dad by Adrienne Dawes and a workshop of Marvin González De León’s Pa’ Fuera, Pa’ Fuera, Pa’ Fuera. The plays alternate showings, beginning with Pa’ Fuera on Nov. 9, and concluding with Teen Dad Nov. 14.

Directed by Jess Hawthorne Fiene, Pa’ Fuera is a modern horror-comedy that asks to what lengths a woman would go to achieve their freedom from the ultimate monster: a gaslighting ex-boyfriend who just won’t go away.

Teen Dad, directed by Stacy Hawking, is a dramedy that is a heartfelt, comedic exploration of generational trauma and recovery in a mixed-race Black and Latinx family.

Both Fiene and Hawking are second-year MFA candidates with an emphasis in directing.
