The Vagina Monologues
by V-Day Austin

Mar. 07 - Mar. 08, 2020

Come find out what makes “The Vagina Monologues” one of “the most important pieces of political theater of the last decade!” The award-winning play is back in Austin as part of the V-Day movement to prevent violence against women and other marginalized communities.

An Obie-Award-winning whirlwind tour of a forbidden zone, The Vagina Monologues introduces a wildly divergent gathering of female voices through a series of short, personal monologues pertaining to varying aspects of the feminine experience.

Heather Ross directs this year’s show and the Santa Cruz theater in downtown east Austin provides a beautiful backdrop for the intimate readings.

All proceeds from the show will benefit Refuge Services of Texas. A silent auction to benefit Refuge Services of Texas and help support victims of human traffic through their STEP program, will take place immediately before the show.

"Ensler breaks taboos by talking, talking and talking some more - stripping fear and shame from what she celebrates here. It makes for quite a party. Funny, outrageous, emotionally affecting, and occasionally angry…The Vagina Monologues confront words to demystify and disarm them. In so doing, Ensler disarms the audience too." – Associated Press

Audiences should be aware that the performance contains adult and sexual content and graphic language and situations.
