Laughs abound in this bestselling Christmas classic by Barbara Robinson! The Best Christmas Pageant Ever follows the outrageous shenanigans of the Herdman siblings, or “the worst kids in the history of the world.” The siblings take over the annual Christmas pageant in a hilarious yet heartwarming tale involving the Three Wise Men, a ham, scared shepherds, and six rowdy kids. 

The Best Christmas Pageant Ever tells the story of Imogene, Claudia. Ralph, Leroy, Ollie, and Gladys, otherwise known as “The Herdmans,” who are notorious for their misfit behavior like smoking, cussing,  stealing, and beating up anybody who gets in their way. When they hear that there are free desserts at church, the go for the first time, with just enough time to take over the church Christmas Pageant. With protests from the church Ladies Aid Society, and concerns by the pastor the Herdmans manage to give the traditional story a new twist and change hearts in the process.  This show is a fresh option for holiday entertainment, filled with laughter and joy for all who attend.

Many of the actors in this production are familiar faces such as Cari Ancelet who is the theatre director at CD Fulkes Middles School and who was featured as Mrs. Darling in the Sam Bass Theatre Production of Peter Pan which was awarded “Best Professional Theatrical Production” in Round Rock.  As well as David Woodfin who was recently seen in the MAD Productions performances of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. Joining the cast is Kendra Christel, who was The Queen of Hearts in Alice’s Adventures In Wonderland. Aside from being a skilled recording artist and musician Kendra has been featured in productions by RKJ Productions and Sam Bass Theatre. There are a lot of new faces as well, including a slew of award-winning youth actors from Round Rock ISD as well as Pflugerville, and Hutto.

 

 

The production team for The Best Christmas Pageant Ever includes Founding Artistic Director Olin Meadows whose work includes, The Oldest Profession (Agape Theatre) as well as The Crucible, A Streetcar Named Desire, Steel Magnolias, and The Importance of Being Earnest, and his award-winning production of Peter Pan, all at Sam Bass Theatre where he was elected the first Artistic Director in their 40-year history. The production team is rounded out by MAD Production’s Technical Director Beth Woodfin and Rhonda Demings as Stage Manager whose resume includes numerous record-breaking productions of theatre for youth and families in the Greater Round Rock area!

Best Christmas Pageant Ever is presented in 2 acts with a 10-minute intermission. The performance is just under 1 1/2 hours including intermission!
