What happens when a prayer goes unanswered?

It can create a faith crisis. That is what has happened to the Strong family.

Career-driven, strong willed, Simone Strong Madison, is from a devoted Christian family. Having idolized her mother, is devastated when she is institutionalized following a mental breakdown.

Simone can't hide her anger and hurt...at her mother...at her church and...at God. If God is who he says he is, how could he turn his back on them? Her faith shaken, Simone decides that since God turned his back on her, she is going to turn her back on God.

And it seems to be working for her. Her career and personal life suddenly start to soar, she views this as confirmation that she doesn't need her mother's God or anyone else...until...

NO ORDINARY DAYS will bring awareness to the crisis of mental illness that is so prevalent today. It chronicles an African American family's struggles to deal with mental illness and its impact on various family members. This issue touches many African American families, community and church. Culturally and historically, African Americans have relied strongly on their church and faith to get them through life's difficult times. However, when it comes to the awareness and treatment of mental illness, it has become a faith fight as well as a life crisis.
