If Wishes Were Fishes
by Pollyanna Theatre Company
Jun. 22 - Jul. 01, 2018
Thursdays-Mondays
Hepp-Galvan’s hilarious new play tells the story of three best friends who can’t wait to play together at their secret meeting spot every day. Sarah, Johnny, and Felicia can transform random objects into any item they need using their imaginations. One day, they find a magic fish tangled in a net. The very large talking fish says that if they free him, he’ll grant them three wishes – one wish each. And that is when the trouble starts. These friends, along with Pollyanna’s young audience, will learn to be grateful for what they have, to always appreciate the wonderful, supportive people in their life, and to be wary of wish-granting fish.
“So often we're thinking about what we want, and forget to recognize the value of what we have,” says playwright Hepp-Galvan. “The idea for the play came from a joke my father shared one night about a trio of friends and the wishes they made. I remember laughing at how silly they were at not realizing that what's important is not the things you can get, but the friends you're with. For me, one of the most valuable things is good friends. I hope after the play, that young audience members will turn to each other and be thankful for being together.”
As with all Pollyanna Theatre productions, the cast is comprised of adult, professional actors, including Bethany Harbaugh, Eva McQuade, Emily Smith, and William Swift. The show is directed by Judy Matetzschk-Campbell with Sound Design and Stage Management by Andrew Perry, Costume and Prop Design by Colleen McCool-Pierce, Set Design by Zac Crofford, and Light Design by Natalie George.
