Pollyanna Theatre Company

Organizational Mission:

To commission and produce original theatre for young audiences that speaks to the needs, dreams, and imaginations of young people and the child that lives inside each of us.  Our Productions respect the intelligence of children and offer hope to individuals of all ages.  Pollyanna supports general education through teaching, using theatre as a methodology across the curriculum.  In the fall of 2011, Pollyanna entered a Strategic Alliance with The Long Center to better serve public schools located near the center through in-school and after-school teaching as well as performance.

Our Founding Principle:

It is possible to create a theatre organization where creativity thrives, where new dramatic literature is created, where general education is supported, where artists find a creative home, and where no child is turned away because of their inability to pay for their ticket.

Our Goals:

  1. Produce high-quality professional theatre for youth.
  2. Develop relevant new plays for child audiences.
  3. Put theatre within the reach of all children regardless of their location or ability to pay.
  4. Be a catalyst for meaningful dialogue between children and their caregivers.
  5. Improve the solid academic foundation of high at-risk children through enrichment programs designed to support their general education and the curriculum.
