Bring on 1960’s nostalgia! Paul and Corie Bratter are newlyweds in every sense of the word. After a six day honeymoon, they get a surprise visit from Corie’s loopy mother and decide to play matchmaker during a dinner with their neighbor-in-the-attic Velasco, where everything that can go wrong, does.

Barefoot in the Park, written by Neil Simon, sparkles in The Palace Playhouse (just across Austin Avenue from The Palace proper) for four weekends, February 16 to March 11, 2018.  Thisromantic comedy focuses on a pair of newlyweds, Corie and Paul, as they begin married life in a tiny, 5th-floor walkup apartment in a Manhattan Brownstone.  Paul is a strait-laced attorney; Corie has a far more spontaneous, free spirit.  Immediately following their six-day honeymoon, they get a surprise visit from Corie’s mother, Mrs. Banks.  Corie and Paul decide to play matchmaker during a dinner with their neighbor-in-the-attic Velasco, and of course everything that can go wrong, does just that!  As the young couple contend with the stairs, the skylight, their oddball neighbor Victor, did-I-mention-the-stairs, and Corie's well-meaning but overprotective mother, they must also reconcile their own personal differences in living life.

First presented on Broadway in October of 1963, at the Biltmore Theatre, directed by Mike Nichols,  Barefoot in the Park was Neil Simon's longest-running hit, and the tenth longest-running non-musical play in Broadway history. The play was nominated for three 1964 Tony Awards, and Mike Nichols won the award for Best Director (non-musical).

Jessie Drollette directs Barefoot in the Park for the Palace. Rachel Britain plays the role of Corie Bratter, and Matt Gauck has the role of Paul Bratter; Linda Myers is Mrs. Banks, Michael Costilla plays Mr. Velasco, and Chris Sundgren is the Telephone Repair Person.

Get ready for a plentiful supply of laughter and maybe a few tears as you enjoy Barefoot in the Park and reflect on your own married/date life!
