Agustín Lara who died 47 years ago was a bohemian artist who brought an element of grace to everything he touched and he remains a major part of the cultural fabric regionally, nationally, and internationally. The pride of Mexico was a prolific song machine who composed an estimated 700 songs that have been sung by countless performers.

Few musical presentations can evoke an audience’s sense of romanticism, nostalgia, and musical revelry the way SIMPLMENTE LARA concert does. SIMPLEMENTE LARA premiered in 2003 and showcases the music of Mexico’s Golden Age, appealing to aficionados of romantic music. Accompanied by the father and son jazz duo of bassist George Prado and pianist Dr. Aaron Ellington Prado, José Rubén De León masterfully brings to life a songbook that includes “Veracruz,” "Noche de ronda,” “Solamente una vez,” and “María bonita.”

You are cordially invited to a Noche de Gala on Saturday, November 4, 2017 at 6 pm at St. Paul’s Catholic Church Community Center, 1201 Donaldson, San Antonio, TX 78228. The gala celebrates the 100th performance of SIMPLMENTE LARA and pays tribute to Agustín Lara, Mexico’s most celebrated composer of the 1930s and 40s. This show has enjoyed incredible success, selling out venues and extending runs due to high interest. Sponsorships and Tickets for this celebratory event are now available for this classy Noche de Gala. The evening will include the SIMPLEMENTE LARA performance, exquisite dining, and bolero music after dinner. 1940’s attire or black tie is preferred, but is optional.
