Echo of the Refugee. . . Me?
by Zell Miller III

Nov. 01 - Nov. 05, 2017
Wednesday-Saturday

ZM3 Live Productions is proud to present our inaugural production, “Echo of the Refugee…me?” This hip-hop theater performance conceived, performed and written by Austin Critics Table Hall of Fame Artist Zell Miller, III. Miller's text is thrust through the brilliant soundtrack composed by Sir Charles and Thomas Wheeler, as Sade Jones’s movement provides framework and narrative for the people of color who have been priced out of the liberal landscape called Austin, TX.

Please make plans to see “Echo of the Refugee…me?” at the Santa Cruz Center for Culture, put on stage by award-winning choreographer Sade Jones (Hands up Hoodie’s Down, Ballot Eats the Bullet, For Colored Girls who considered Suicide when the Rainbows is Enuf, Melanated Chrysalis). They will be supported musically by experimental funk/jazz bassist Sir Charles and Master funk/jazz Drummer Thomas Wheeler.

“Echo of the Refugee…me?” is an exploration in sound and movement dissecting the destruction in communities ripped apart by gentrification, police brutality, and the rising racial political landscape. Where do the artists of color go in Donald J. Trump’s America? This sonic collaboration will have all 5 senses singing for the daybreak as Miller is teamed with amazing musicians.
