Merger of Northside Performing Arts with Magik Theatre
Dear Northside Performing Arts Center Family,
When I started Northside Performing Arts Center six years ago, it was with a vision. Since you are such an important part of the NPAC family, I am thrilled to be sharing some exciting news with you. Beginning in March 2015, Northside Performing Arts Center will be merging with The Magik Theatre to create San Antonio's newest and most comprehensive arts education program: Magik Performing Arts Center.
As I'm sure you know, The Magik Theatre is San Antonio's only professional family theater and the only theater in town dedicated exclusively to youth. This year, they celebrated 20 years of bringing theater to over 1.5 million audience members. Their focus on child-centered, family-friendly entertainment and their mission of bringing the arts into their community matches our own mission well and I couldn’t have been more excited when they contacted me about this opportunity.
Plans are already underway for the new building, which we will move into in March 2015. It is situated near I-10 and DeZavala Road, about a 15-minute drive from our current space. Magik Performing Arts Center will feature a raised stage, three acting studios, two dance studios and a large backyard, complete with a play area for waiting students and siblings and lots of room for future expansion. We will be hosting an open house this spring and we look forward to showing you around and hearing what you think!
At Magik Performing Arts Center, I will serve as Internal Programs Manager as well as an instructor for many classes. As you look at the attached schedule, you'll notice that NPAC will be bringing along some of our favorite and most popular programs. Aside from classes, events like our monthly Open Mic Nights and student fundraisers will still be a part of our programming. At the new location, students will also be able to benefit from a fuller spectrum of classes in acting, singing, dancing, musical theater, film/tv and more under the instruction of a professional and highly qualified staff. For the last couple of months, I've been working with the education staff at The Magik Theatre to develop an amazing curriculum of classes and programs. I have fallen in love with both the people I've encountered and the ideas we're developing and I know you will, too.
There is a lot of information to pass along about the new site. Please keep in mind that as we build out and prepare the new space, some dates and details may change. Upon clicking the links below, you'll find:

Finally, I want to thank you for your love and support in the last six years. I hope to see you all in Spring 2015!
