“…and the revolving door turns and turns and turns…”
Come spend a night or two in the world’s most luxurious yet vaguely tragic hotel where we can eavesdrop on the conversations and the lives of some finely observed guests. It is 1928 Berlin. The world is between wars, the stock market is booming, Berlin is the center of high life and optimism rules the day. However, underneath it all, there is something much darker happening with the Grand Hotel’s illustrious clients – issues of life and death, financial ruin, love and murder. All this converging to mirror life itself as people come and go through the revolving door that never stops. Richly contrasting rhythm and dance, comedy, glitz, heartache and tragedy are interwoven into this story that features a diverse ensemble cast and a lush and powerful score.
Tickets on sale March 1, 2025.
LYDIA
By Octavio Solis
Fall 2025
“In our souls, we are as eloquent as any poet in the world.”
Set in El Paso, Texas during the Vietnam War, Octavio Solis’s LYDIA is an intense, lyrical, and magical play that explores the idea of the “American dream.” The Mexican-American Flores family welcomes Lydia, an undocumented maid, into their home to care for their daughter Ceci, who was tragically disabled in a car accident on the eve of her quinceañera. An orphan from Mexico, Lydia has come to the U.S. illegally to start a new life, but it is quickly understood that she is no normal woman. Her immediate and seemingly miraculous bond with Ceci sets the entire family on a mysterious and shocking journey of discovery.
LYDIA is an unflinching and deeply emotional portrait of a Mexican immigrant family caught in a web of dark secrets. Solis plunges you into the turmoil of interconnected lives — and leaves you thrilled, stunned and moved.
A CHRISTMAS MEMORY

Holidays 2025
“It’s fruitcake weather!”
The Alchemy Theatre once again brings their holiday presentation of Truman Capote’s beloved short story A CHRISTMAS MEMORY as a staged reading. Originally published in 1956, this poignant, heart-felt, modern day classic gently captures Mr. Capote’s richly detailed memories of his Depression-era, rural Alabama boyhood with his best friend – an eccentric, 60-something distant cousin with whom he baked fruitcakes each Christmas. The affecting simplicity of TRUMAN CAPOTE’S A CHRISTMAS MEMORY speaks even louder today, making us realize just how chaotic our lives can be if we don’t hold on to some tether of family, love and tradition.
