By day, Brandon Lindsey serves as the General Manager of ThunderCloud Subs on the Square, making sandwiches and connections with regulars. However, Mr. Lindsey moonlights as one of the co-founders of independent Georgetown theater company Druid & Bard.
Mr. Lindsey was in a production in Austin when the pandemic hit, causing the play to close. In 2021, Covid-19 restrictions were starting to lessen, but live theater opportunities were still limited.
Mr. Lindsey coordinated with his friend Hanna Dewerse to create an independent show to fulfill a long-time goal.
Although under a different company name, this was Druid & Bards first showcase in indenpendent theater. A Midsummer Night's Dream was held in the outdoor space at 309 Coffee in downtown Georgetown.
"We kind of just wanted to do our own thing," Mr. Lindsey said. "We'd always wanted to start our own theater company in some way, shape or form. I've got a lot of writing projects, I've got a lot of plays that I've written that I’d love to do, but it's just hard finding venues.”
Three years later, the company wall is exploring live theater again, with mr. Lindsey and his wife Andi at the helm.
The company just fiinished a season of As You Like It and Peter Pan, the latter of whih was put on with Lark and Owl Booksellers.
Without a traditional stage, Mr. Lindsey said Peter Pan was their most challenging production yet, especially since the Lindseys fund the productions themselves.
