The Overtime Theater has postponed their production of Joseph E. Green’s comedic play Einstein’s Wrong About Everything after learning that some cast members had been exposed to the coronavirus.
Opening weekend of the production was canceled late last week. The show was scheduled to run Jan. 14-Feb. 5, 2022.
“Covid permitting, we plan to open Einstein’s Wrong About Everything in July,” stated Jade Esteban Estrada, artistic director of the Overtime Theater, in a Jan. 20 statement. “An abundance of time and creative energy went into this rehearsal process, so naturally, we will be inviting the cast and crew to return to their roles if they are available at that time. One of the lessons the pandemic has taught us, especially in the theatre, is that we must always be ready to adapt to new information and circumstances, sometimes, with little notice. Fortunately, most actors are already very good at that.”
The board and staff of the Overtime Theater would like to be community leaders for safe and ethical ways to keep theater alive and vibrant during these difficult times. With the arts taking a major hit during Covid-19’s first year of closures, the venue is actively finding ways to make moving forward and staying open a priority.
The Overtime's next offering will be their inaugural New Play Development Series: Black Voices on Thursday, Feb. 3, 2022 and Cesar’s Palace, a new musical slated to open Feb. 18, 2022.
Ticket holders for Einstein’s Wrong About Everything should contact the Overtime Theater box office at info@theovertimetheater.org or call (210) 577-7562.
