Nunsense A-men

(via HCCT)Book by Dan Goggin

Music by Dan Goggin

Lyrics by Dan Goggin

September 24 – October 17, 2021

Nunsense A-Men! is basically the original “Nunsense” show with all of the characters being portrayed by male musical comedy performers. Think of it as “Mrs. Doubtfire enters the Convent.” Done totally seriously, this show is, to quote a critic, “no drag”.

When five of the surviving members of the Little Sisters of Hoboken Convent discover that 52 of their sisters have been accidentally poisoned by food prepared by their cook, Sister Julia, Child of God, they’re tasked with the challenge of raising enough money to pay for the burials. While the deceased nuns await proper burial, the surviving nuns decide to perform a variety show at a local high school to scrape together the funds.

The five nuns performing at this show are big-shot former circus performer Mother Superior Mary Regina, her rival Sister Mary Hubert, street-smart Brooklynite Sister Robert Anne, fledgling ballerina Sister Mary Leo, and absent-minded Sister Mary Amnesia, who suffers from memory loss after getting hit in the head with a falling crucifix.

The nuns’ personalities clash as they all fight for the spotlight but their sisterhood eventually triumphs as they get closer to reaching their goal. Nunsense is the second-longest-running Off-Broadway show in history, with a run of 3,672 performances. The show’s success has generated six sequels and three spin-offs, as well as a television adaptation.

A Doublewide, Texas Christmas – Comedy

(via HCCT)By Jessie Jones, Nicholas Hope and Jamie Wooten

December 3 – December 19, 2021

In this outrageously funny comedy, it’s Christmas-time in the newest—and tiniest—town in Texas. And it’s beginning to look a lot like trouble in Doublewide. Not only are the trailer park residents dealing with the stress of the holiday season, but they’ve just discovered that Doublewide is being double-crossed by the County.

With their official incorporation papers in jeopardy, this band of eccentric Texans throw themselves into taking on the “Big Guys.” Determined to bolster their legitimacy, they first set their sights on the County-wide “Battle of The Mangers” competition. They conspire to win this smackdown with their “Nativity At The Alamo” entry…by any means possible.

By the time this full-tilt rocket ride of lunacy climaxes in a “what-else-can-go-wrong live television presentation”, you’ll have doubled your Christmas spirit.

So spend the Yuletide in Doublewide and let this hilarious Jones Hope Wooten Comedy make your Christmas merry and bright…because there’s no place like a good ol’ Texas-sized mobile home for the holidays!

Birthday Club

(Via HCCT)By Phil Olson

April 22 – May 15, 2022

Five women get together for their birthdays, each with her own story, to drink, celebrate, commiserate and support each other as they negotiate through marriage, work, divorce, birth and kids, while solving the problems of the world.

Cheryl, Karen, Monica and Abbie started Birthday Club five years ago when their friend Jennifer was diagnosed with cancer, as a support group to help her get through it. When Jennifer recently passed away, they had an opening for a new member.

However, it’s not easy to join Birthday Club. Birthday Club is very exclusive, and there’s a three-year waiting list. They bring in Sarah as a potential member, but first Sarah must make it through the “interview,” and agree to abide by the eight rules of Birthday Club, to be considered an official member.

One by one, they reveal their personal, work and family issues, and when one of them admits she went out with another’s husband, the vodka hits the fan. The question is: Will Birthday Club survive, or will Rule #5 end it forever?
