The Public Theater of San Antonio, in collaboration with the Arts Fund, is pleased to accept applications for a full-time, 10-week paid Summer Internship beginning June 3, 2019 through August 9, 2019. The purpose of this opportunity is to provide an
undergraduate student the opportunity for meaningful job training and experience working with a not-for-profit arts organization and to foster future leaders and advocates for the arts in Bexar County. The selected intern will work 40 hours per week in various
technical capacities under the supervision of the Technical Director.

Student Eligibility:
The selected applicant must be a current Bexar County resident. Student may be attending a school outside of Bexar County but their permanent address must be located in Bexar County. Pursuing an undergraduate degree in a discipline within the fine arts with a concentration in theater.
Intern Duties:
Construct and paint scenic units for multiple productions.
Craft special units based on designs and needs of productions.
Attend production meetings to learn the technical journey of a show.
Assist with maintenance of facilities and shop.
Assist the Technical Director, Resident Designer, Sound Designer, and Lighting Designer with
additional technical tasks.
Intern must be available June 4 or 11 and August 9 to attend mandatory events per the Bexar County
Arts Intern Program.
Intern schedule is flexible and intern must be available some evenings and weekends.
Preferred Skills:
Basic carpentry skills.
Experience with power tools and hand tools.
Ability to lift and carry over 50 lbs consistently.
Ability to climb, stoop, and squat.
Working knowledge of plumbing and mechanical systems.
Working knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems.
Experience with Theatrical Rigging (PLASA Standards).
Experience welding or other metal fabrication.

A review committee comprised of representatives from The Public Theater of San Antonio will review all applications and select individuals to interview for further consideration.
